More than 100 Hispanic radio stations from nearly 70 markets converged at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on January 20 – 22 for the 15th annual Promesa y Esperanza (Promise and Hope) Seminar. This annual celebration of St. Jude partners and supporters within the U.S. Hispanic community drew nearly 400 attendees from the radio, television and entertainment industries, as well as members of the corporate and volunteer communities. The seminar included hospital tours, patient forums and workshops on broadcasting successful radiothons for diverse markets.

This year’s event continued with the participation of Univision television personalities, Javier Romero from Sábado Gigante, Poncho de Anda from Despierta América, regional Mexican artist Graciela Beltrán and Dominican group Bocatabú. They posed for pictures, signed autographs and offered encouraging words to St. Jude patients and their families.

The Promesa y Esperanza radiothons began in 1997 with just three participating radio stations. Today, 102 radio stations in more than 65 markets are involved in the Spanish-language fundraiser which has raised more than $74 million in donations and pledges for the kids of St. Jude.
