Sixty members of the La Porte High School Orchestra proudly showed off their musical prowess for St. Jude patients and their families March 15 in the Danny Thomas/ALSAC Pavilion. The orchestra, from La Porte, Texas, is a highly rated high school musical ensemble that competes in several state and regional competitions and has consistently received superior ratings over the years.

The La Porte High School Orchestra, directed by Dr. Geoff Carlton and Clint Brown, is composed of students from four different school orchestras — Freshman, Sophomore, Junior Varsity and Varsity. In all, 140 students participate in annual fall, winter and spring concerts, in addition to Texas University Interscholastic League events.

The orchestra has a special bond with St. Jude—director Carlton is the brother of Ken Carlton, manager of Security Operations at St. Jude.
