Buddy Jewell’s return performance for the kids of St. Jude

Buddy Jewell, country artist and winner of Nashville Star 2003, made a return visit to St. Jude on February 4. Jewell is inspired by St. Jude and enjoys visiting the hospital to sing for the children and their families. It was another stellar performance as Jewell not only shared his natural gift for singing and songwriting, but also expressed his heartfelt thanks to St. Jude. He also shared how, 30 years ago, a member of his family was a patient at St. Jude and wasn’t expected to live past 2 years old. But the boy, born with a rare blood disorder, survived to share many precious years until the age of 15, and Buddy dedicated the show to this memory and gratitude.

As his silky-smooth voice filled the Kay’s Family Corner, Jewell’s warmth and sincerity charmed the crowd of patients and families with his selections of Help Pour Out the Rain (Lacey’s Song), The Wheels Turn Slow (The Caterpillar Song), Jesus, Elvis and Me, and The Battle of New Orleans.
