Medulloblastoma accounts for about 20 percent of childhood brain tumors. This tumor type has a tendency to spread to other areas of the brain and spinal cord. Medulloblastoma is also referred to as primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET).
"Medulloblastoma is the most common malignant brain tumor in children. Fortunately with modern therapy we are able to cure a high proportion of children diagnosed with medulloblastoma. The focus of our ongoing research programs aim to further improve the cure rate especially in young children and patients with high-risk disease presentations and decrease the long term side effects of treatment. "
