It's part scavenger hunt, part party and an exciting way to help St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in the fight against childhood cancer.
The wacky, urban adventure known as Great Urban Race will be taking place in 20 cities around the world. You can be a part of the fun as a St. Jude Hero.
As a St. Jude Hero, not only will you be eligible to win prizes from Great Urban Race but you will be eligible for other Heroes-related prizes.
Teams of two will work together to solve 12 clues and complete physical and mental challenges by walking, running or using public transportation. Participants may find themselves scavenging for random items, deciphering puzzles or completing a physical challenge or game.
All participants are encouraged to sign up to become St. Jude Heroes and help to raise funds to support St. Jude. Prior to race day, St. Jude Heroes will raise money for the hospital by securing pledges from family and friends.
As a St. Jude Hero, you will be provided a personalized fundraising web page, e-newsletters with fundraising tips and St. Jude patient stories, motivational support from St. Jude representatives and incentive prizes for fundraising.
In addition, for each registered St. Jude Hero competing in the event, Great Urban Race will donate $10 to St. Jude.
The cost of the race varies by event. The race is open to all; however, those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
The top 25 qualifying teams will have the opportunity to compete in the National Championship race in San Juan, Puerto Rico for a chance at the $10,000 prize.
