Survivors DayIn the 50 years since St. Jude first opened its doors, survival rates for childhood cancers have steadily improved from less than 20 percent in 1962 to 80 percent today. In the U.S. alone, there are currently more than 300,000 survivors of childhood cancers, and their ranks are continually growing.

To honor these survivors, from those who have recently been diagnosed to those who have completed treatment, St. Jude hosted the 14th annual Survivors Day Conference Friday and Saturday, October 26 and 27, 2012. The program featured dynamic panel discussions with distinguished medical experts, cancer researchers and advocates, as well as other survivors of childhood cancers. In addition, legendary musician Randy Owen, lead vocalist of the country music band Alabama, made a special appearance.
