Brennan’s parents, Turner and Tara, know their son’s a fighter. He won a long, difficult fight against acute myeloid leukemia, a type of blood cancer. Now, with Brennan’s cancer in remission and the help of country musician Darius Rucker, Turner has decided to help give back to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital— the hospital that helped save Brennan’s life — through a very special song he wrote called Possibilities.

Shortly after Brennan’s third bone marrow transplant, Turner sat down and wrote the song’s lyrics. “Brennan’s health was probably at the worst it’s been,” Turner said. “Joe Stevenson, my friend and the song’s co-writer, encouraged me to write a song about what was happening, and there was an army of people from Augusta to Nashville who helped us.”

Writing Possibilities was therapy for Turner. But soon it turned into something much more. When Rucker heard the tune, he was excited to record the song.

"I think that music is really good at giving people hope to think that things are going to get better. That's what this song is all about," said Rucker. "I think for a lot of parents, when their kids get sick, hope is so hard to find. So when I heard it, I was excited to do it."

It’s about gratitude, and the gifts we always have, regardless of our circumstances. It’s a song about faith, friends, family and possibilities.

For Turner, the song is about maintaining hope in the face of the seemingly impossible. “It’s about gratitude and the gifts we always have, regardless of our circumstances,” he said. “It’s a song about faith, friends, family and possibilities.”

Brennan overcame unbelievable odds, and his hard battle is behind him. He continues to thrive. He’s a happy, intelligent kid who loves fishing, golfing and spending time with his brothers. He’s in seventh grade, and his favorite subjects are history and literature.

St. Jude is willing to take lost causes when others will not,” Turner said. “We’ve been affected and inspired by St. Jude and its mission. We hope others will be, too.”

Download Possibilities and a portion of the proceeds will benefit St. Jude.
