In December 2015, Janelle’s family learned she had brain cancer. She underwent surgery to remove the tumor, after which her family turned to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Janelle may be undergoing treatment for cancer, but she’s still managing to enjoy her time at St. Jude. When she first arrived and saw how many other kids were here, she was really excited.
“Janelle’s always made friends very easily,” said her mom. “We always used to joke it’s like she has a little light around her. Everywhere she would go; people would just go towards her, always.”
Janelle loves kittens, the color pink and school. Her favorite subjects are math and science.

Janelle plays with a toy reindeer with her sister, Jazmine.
Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. Janelle’s treatment includes radiation therapy and chemotherapy.
