Departmental Focus
The Department of Psychology advances the mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by helping children with catastrophic illnesses achieve the best possible quality of life. Efforts focus on providing outstanding clinical care and conducting innovative clinical investigations to improve outcomes for patients and families.
Research in the Department centers primarily on two major areas: health promotion and cognitive neurosciences. A key emphasis is on developing novel interventions to improve quality of life and to prevent or reduce any illness- or treatment-related adverse effects.
Clinical services provided to St. Jude patients include consultation, therapy/intervention, and psychological and neuropsychological assessment. The Department of Psychology also trains future psychological researchers and clinicians and supports family-centered initiatives.
