Research/Clinical Interests
At St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (SJCRH), I provide clinical care as a pediatric anesthesiologist, pediatric pain team member, and adult anesthesiologist. I have designed and initiated an acetaminophen safety project to improve acetaminophen safety and quality of care for the SJCRH patient population. I have a breadth of knowledge and experience in clinical practice that enhances my ability to discern areas for improvement and to investigate questions, that once answered, will vastly improve the quality and care of our patients at SJRCH and worldwide. Particular areas of interest to me are anesthetic neurotoxicity of the developing brain, anesthetic effect on residual disease, enhanced recovery after surgery, and reduction of patient morbidity and mortality. I find the environment at SJCRH particularly rich with mentors and programs to guide me as I pursue my first project as primary investigator on the neuroprotective effects of dexmedetomidine (Precedex). I also enjoy educating the next generations of physician and nurse providers.
