Heidi began her medical career in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. She then received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Vermont in 1994, and enjoyed an extensive career as a travelling nurse in pediatric and adult dialysis. 

Memphis became her permanent home in 1999, and she has been employed at St. Jude since 2002. She worked as an apheresis nurse in the Blood Donor Center, then as a Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinator for several years.

Joining the Leukemia/Lymphoma Division of the Cancer Center in 2009 as a Clinical Research Nurse (CRA-RN), she helped develop and coordinate multiple St. Jude initiated Phase I, II, and III multi-center studies. She has served on St Jude's Internal Monitoring Committee for Clinical Research since 2010, and is a Certified Clinical Research Professional by the Society of Clinical Research Associates. 

Heidi became a part of the Global Pediatric Medicine team late in 2016. Her current role is as the Clinical Research Associate for the North American Consortium for Histiocytosis (NACHO), where she is responsible for the oversight of regulatory and data management activities of the NACHO multicenter clinical trials.
