Research Interests

The Grosveld laboratory studies the role of chromosomal translocations in two types of childhood cancer, acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma (ARMS). Chromosomal translocations create fusion genes that can transform normal cells into tumor cells. Our goal is to define the biological and biochemical roles of those aberrant proteins and to determine how they are involved in tumorigenesis. Understanding these molecular pathways will facilitate the development of novel, targeted therapies for these devastating diseases.
