Melanie Jackson, MA
- International Visitors Program Coordinator
Melanie joined the International Outreach department in April, 2012. A Mississippi native, she received a BA in Broadcast Journalism from Howard University in Washington, DC and a MA in Journalism/Public Relations from the University of Memphis. While pursuing her degrees, she spent time writing copy for both print and television news outlets in Mississippi, Tennessee, and the Washington, DC areas. Melanie is also active in the maternal and infant public health community, serving as a volunteer lactation counselor with an international non-profit group since 2003.
Before coming to the International Visitors Program (IVP), Melanie spent more than five years in the Department of Epidemiology working with the Childhood Cancer Survivor Study. The time she spent there working with long-term survivors of pediatric illness and learning about the challenges of survivorship strengthened her admiration for the St. Jude mission. She is excited to support the IVP program and help provide international exposure to the St. Jude model of care.
