Elizabeth (Beth) Schaeffer, MALS, is the Program Manager for the Global Professional Education team in the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine. Beth manages a talented team who create and support online and blended educational content for participants in GPM’s growing list of global initiatives and for members of the Cure4Kids medical education Web site.
Beth’s interest in St. Jude began during a summer independent study where she learned the ins and outs of the hospital’s Bacteriology lab and did a special project that took her up to the patient floors. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Rhodes College and also holds a master’s degree in Liberal Studies from the University of Memphis.
Beth has a work history that reflects diverse interests in writing, teaching, science and the arts. Before coming to GPM, Beth was an adjunct instructor in the Regents Online Degree Program at the University of Memphis; was a technology faculty member at the Hutchison School; was co-owner, trainer and curriculum designer for a workforce development company; owned a desktop publishing and graphic design business; co-authored/edited a book on AutoCAD; was a systems engineer at IBM Corp.; and worked as a medical research lab technician at UTCHS in the field of Cellular Immunology. Beth has lived in Memphis for all of her adult life, but grew up in New Mexico.
