Since 2010, the members of Lambda Theta Alpha have been raising funds and awareness for St. Jude kids.

Lambda Theta Alpha was founded at Kean University in 1975 and later incorporated into an academic sorority in 1979.

As the first Latin sorority in the nation, Lambda Theta Alpha strives to develop strong leaders that produce and engage in political, social, and cultural activities.

Founded on the principles of unity, love and respect, the sorority cultivates a sisterhood through charitable and educational programs. Although Lambda Theta Alpha is Latin by tradition, the sorority is inclusive to all women regardless of race, color, creed, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.

To date, Lambda Theta Alpha has raised over $330,000 to aid in St. Jude's efforts to end childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

LTA chapters across the country raise funds and awareness for St. Jude through campus and community events.

These events vary greatly from making cards for patients to hosting annual fundraisers, such as sports tournaments and charitable galas.

In 2015, Lambda Theta Alpha held their annual convention in Memphis, TN. During their visit, they attended educational seminars at St. Jude.

Members participated in a special community service for St. Jude families by designing and filling welcome bags with toiletries and snacks.

Over 100 welcome bags were created for families that often arrive with only their sick child and a few belongings.

St. Jude staff provided members with a memorable tour, career seminar and information on the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer, which the sorority participates in annually as a national partner.

Support Lambda Theta Alpha's fundraising efforts

With your help, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
