**Inspired by the first fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital took place in a Chicago theater in 1951, where Thomas’ new film I’ll See You in My Dreams premiered. The event raised $51,000.

DannyThomas once related, “It’s funny how that number has haunted me for years. I catapulted out of the ‘5100’ nightclub in Chicago, we collected $51,000 at our first major benefit, and St. Jude Hospital is built on Highway 51 in Memphis.”

Make a personal donation

  1. Help provide a platelet count test for two patients

Platelet counts are among the tests doctors use to monitor patient health during treatment.

  2. Help provide one hour of physical therapy.

Physical therapy is provided to patients because children with life-threatening diseases like cancer may develop developmental, cognitive or physical impairments as a result of their illnesses and their treatments.

  3. Help provide parent necessities for 20 patient families.

Parents who bring their children to St. Jude often leave home in a hurry and forget to pack day-to-day necessities such as shampoos, razors, deodorant, toothbrushes and lotion. At Tri Delta Place, our short-term housing facility, parents can obtain these essentials free of charge.

  4. Help cover the cost of 16 days of oxygen for a St. Jude patient.

During treatment, St. Jude patients may need oxygen to help their bodies function properly and aid in healing.

  5. Help cover the cost of the daily room rate of the ICU.

The Intensive Care Unit at St. Jude has twice been recognized with the Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence given by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. In 2009, the St. Jude ICU became Tennessee’s first ICU to win the honor.

  6. Help provide one CT scan for a St. Jude patient.

St. Jude doctors use CT scans to provide parents with much-needed answers about their child’s health. The CT scan combines computer and X-ray technology to take detailed pictures of areas inside the child’s body and is used throughout the treatment protocol to provide updates on progress.

When you make a donation, your donation will be used to provide breakthrough research, treatment and cures. Items listed here are representative of services and supplies that are part of the treatment and care of children at St. Jude. The cost of each item or service is an approximation, and will vary based on actual costs incurred and individual patient needs. Your donation will be used for the general operating needs of St. Jude, where families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food.
