Commit the next year of your life to saving theirs!

Do you still need a New Year’s resolution for 2018? Consider becoming a St. Jude Hero or volunteering at a local St. Jude event in your community. Your support helps ensure that no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for anything — not for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

A poem by St. Jude patient, Corbin

St. Jude patient Corbin

At St. Jude, we encourage children battling cancer to express their feelings in different ways, and St. Jude patient Corbin wrote a special poem to describe a very specific part of his experience battling cancer: losing his hair as a teenager and choosing to hide his bald head with a hat.

Beanie

I used to hide it
I tried to fight it
But I guess I’m destined just to be
Me
In AE trying on the beanies
Because every now and then
I can’t let them know who I am

It’s a physical representation
Of my situation
I guess I can’t let them see
What’s not really me

It’s complicated
And in my taste understated
The feeling that I get
When all I want to do is forget
That who I really am
Is trapped under a woven net
