Doggy Daze volunteers help to relieve stress by providing a break between treatments. While hospitalized, patients are separated from their pets at home. This program allows St. Jude patients a unique experience with a man’s best friend.
All Doggy Daze volunteers must first be certified by the Pet Partners, Intermountain Therapy Animals or Therapy Dogs Incorporated. Handlers and visiting dogs will meet with Child Life personnel and Doggy Daze Liaison prior to beginning volunteer orientation for temperament and observation of pet.
Doggy Daze volunteers must also complete the St. Jude volunteer orientation process. Shifts occur on Tuesdays, 9:30 am to 10:30 am, and Thursdays, 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
