Volunteens

Our two-week Volunteen program teaches high school students leadership skills while they learn more about St. Jude.

COVID-19 Notice to Volunteers

For the safety of our patients and families, we are not accepting applications for new volunteers at this time.

We hope to open applications in late 2021 or early 2022.

Thank you for your interest in the Volunteen Program at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Our Volunteen Program was created to give teens ages 16 to 17 years old an opportunity to build leadership skills and self-awareness.

About the Volunteen Program

The Volunteen Program is a two-week program offered twice during the summer. Each session consists of approximately 16 new Volunteens and five returning Volunteens who serve as program assistants in a leadership role.

Acceptance into the Volunteen Program is highly competitive.

Volunteens will:

  • Provide fun-filled activities for our patients and siblings each day

  • Explore health- and research-related careers

  • Gain an understanding of and build a connection to St. Jude

Volunteen Age Requirements

To qualify for the Volunteen Program, applicants must be 16 years old and no older than 18 years old by June of the summer in which you are in the program.

If you have specific questions about individual volunteer opportunities at St. Jude, read our Hospital Volunteer FAQs or contact volunteers@stjude.org.

To say that St. Jude has made an impact on my life would be an understatement because it has completely changed and molded my life, and I am so grateful for that. I will be forever thankful for the opportunities that I have had to work at this world-renowned hospital
