At 3 months old, a concerning bump appeared on baby Jessica’s leg. It was discovered she had cancer.
Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food—so they can focus on helping their child live.
Local doctors put Jessica under observation, but her mom, Erika, said they didn’t have what they needed to adequately treat her. Fortunately, they were referred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®.
“I used to wonder, why was this happening to us?” said Erika. Once at St. Jude, she thought, “they are giving her the best treatment, what else can I ask for?”
Jessica underwent chemotherapy at St. Jude and has now finished treatment and returned home.
“Being in a place alone where you don’t know anybody and aren’t able to work is hard, but I thank God and St. Jude because they did a great job.”
