St. Jude patient Eri'Elle
Your support helps kids like Eri'Elle
At 3, Eri’Elle knows what she loves: dinosaurs, her mom and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. When she was just 2, Eri’Elle was diagnosed with a rare and fast-growing atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor and referred to St. Jude for treatment.
“When I received the diagnosis for my daughter, my hope was gone,” her mom, Angel, says. She found hope again at St. Jude. Eri’Elle had two surgeries to remove tumors from her spine and then her ribs, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Eri’Elle smiled through it all. At St. Jude, Eri’Elle was well cared for. So was her mom.
“Not having to worry about what we will eat, sleep or how I will pay for this treatment is more than a blessing,” Angel says. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food. Eri’Elle has decided she wants to be a doctor when she grows up. Her mom made her a doctor’s badge to wear at St. Jude.
“I’m grateful for every dollar that anybody gives because that’s why my child’s still here,” Angel says. “That’s why she’s alive.”
With a gift from the gift shop of a charity, like St. Jude, showing someone you care comes with the bonus of helping those in need. Your impact is real. When St. Jude opened in 1962, childhood cancer was considered incurable. Since then, St. Jude has helped push the overall survival rate from 20% to more than 80%, and we won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
