IRA gifts

If you are 70 1/2 or older, you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA up to $100,000 directly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  You can help the kids of St. Jude and potentially receive a tax benefit.

A donation transferred directly from your IRA to a qualified charity like St. Jude is generally not considered taxable income on your federal income tax return. As always, we recommend that you contact your plan administrator or professional advisor to determine if this type of gift is right for you.

For more information, please call (800) 395-4341 to speak to a St. Jude representative.

Have your IRA administrator use our sample letter to help you make a charitable rollover gift to St. Jude.

Donor-advised funds

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a type of charitable investment account that provides an immediate tax benefit to you, and allows you to recommend grants to charities of your choice over time.

Granting to St. Jude through your DAF is simple and easy. You can recommend a gift to St. Jude today, or on a recurring basis (monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually) to help the kids of St. Jude.

Giving through a charitable lead trust

When you establish a charitable lead trust (CLT), a predetermined amount of the trust’s assets will be given to St. Jude annually for a set period of time. Afterward, the remainder of the funds can be transferred to the trust’s non-charitable beneficiaries, such as family members. Setting up a charitable lead trust may reduce or even eliminate gift and estate taxes on trust assets passing to family.
