More than 600 professionals from every major firm on Wall Street gathered November 12 for the 24th annual St. Jude Presents Wall Street Taste of New York, raising nearly $2 million for the mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Guests heard from St. Jude mother, Kathy Hagen, who shared the story of her son John’s courageous fight against acute lymphoblastic leukemia at St. Jude. Her husband, Richard J. Hagen Jr., is president and chief operating officer of the privately held discount brokerage firm TradeKing and is a member of the committee that coordinates the Wall Street event.

Longstanding committee co-chair Cathy Rosen of Zweig-DiMenna Associates expressed her gratitude to the Wall Street community, saying, “Our Wall Street committee could not be prouder to lead this event on behalf of the children of St. Jude, and we are overcome each year by the outpouring of support from our industry.”

Held at Guastavino’s, the Taste of New York event featured cocktails, cuisine from some of New York’s finest restaurants, live and silent auctions, and a special give-away of Super Bowl tickets.

Auction items included use of the New York Rangers luxury box, a private dinner for 10 with the chef from RAO’s restaurant, a New York Knicks ball-boy experience and the ultimate New York Giants fan package, which included traveling in the team plane to an away game.

Launched in 1989, Taste of New York has raised more than $38 million for St. Jude. Funding from the Wall Street initiative has benefited research and treatment efforts at the hospital, including the brain tumor program, pediatric HIV/AIDS research and the naming of the Infectious Disease Research Floor in the Chili’s Care Center.
