The St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign is where many of the nation's leading companies and brands come together in support of our lifesaving mission: Finding cures. Saving children.® Their remarkable support and dedication reminds shoppers to give thanks for the healthy kids in their lives, and give to those who are not.


The Stars Shine for the Kids of St. Jude


Each year, Tony Thomas, renowned director and son of St. Jude founder Danny Thomas, gathers celebrity friends like Jennifer Aniston, Sofia Vergara, Michael Strahan, Luis Fonsi and Brad Paisley to create commercials to air on TV, in theatres and online. 

While stars like Rhett and Link, MatPat and Stephanie, Chip and Joanna Gaines, Rio Roma, Kirk Franklin, Elizabeth Gutierrez, Colton Underwood, Shalom Blac, Adrienne Calvo, JoAnna Garcia share stories of support via online video testimonials and social media.

These TV, film, music and social media personalities, along with our own special stars—St. Jude patients—share heartwarming moments that help raise awareness and must needed funds to support our lifesaving mission.

St. Jude Thanks and Giving—A Season to Help Kids Live

More than 60 leading brands support the campaign during November and December by raising funds and awareness for St. Jude through in-store and online initiatives, specialty merchandise and social media engagement on platforms including Facebook and Twitter. The generous support—which includes a cross-section of more than 60 premier brands in retail, dining, travel, hospitality and media—helps raise funds that are vital to the research and treatments happening every day at St. Jude.


Innovative Activations Drove Visibility and Awareness

Social media continued to be an important avenue for the conversation among corporate partners, donors, friends and supporters. Facebook, Instagram, SnapChat, Twitter and YouTube were important channels for leading the conversation about why people #GiveThanks, generating excitement around Thanksgiving week and encouraging generosity on GivingTuesday and throughout the holiday season. These channels invited St. Jude supporters coast-to-coast and of all ages to join the conversation.

The vertical display can be properly viewed from all four corners of Times Square. Placement was on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade route on Thanksgiving Day and during Christmas and New Year’s Eve in Times Square.

For the 16th year, the St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign commenced with the help of the TODAY show. From November 25 to 28, viewers watched compelling stories about the strength and perseverance of patients and families and the live-saving work of St. Jude.

Our Multimedia Campaign Reached People at Every Touchpoint

During the season of Thanks and Giving, the social sphere was abuzz with people from around the world sharing heartwarming stories and messages to show their love for St. Jude and help raise awareness among family, friends, followers and fellow supporters.

We have leveraged the conversation around GivingTuesday to raise funds and drive awareness for St. Jude. In 2019, thanks to our many social media supporters and partners, we raised more than $5 million—totaling at more than $9 million raised through the GivingTuesday activation since 2016. 

The Game Theorists Livestream Raises $1.3 Million

By approaching GivingTuesday differently in 2019, new audiences were engaged with a new partnership with The Game Theorists, popular YouTube creators who have 12.2 million subscribers. They hosted a nine-hour live-stream event that resulted in more than $1.3 million raised, 13.7 million views, 18,000 unique donors, 100 million engagements and 20,000 donations.

Celebrities Give Back on GivingTuesday

The This Shirt Saves Lives promotion kicked off on GivingTuesday through the end of the year. The shirt was given as an incentive to supporters who signed up as monthly donors during the promotional period.
