The Biomedical Library provides St. Jude faculty and staff with information both from the physical library and from electronic resources 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The library staff is available to answer questions in person, by phone or email Monday-Friday. The staff also assists with searching and provides specialized training/orientations for library resources upon request.
The Biomedical Library purchases and maintains access to over 4000 full-text journals and 1000 electronic books. These site licenses are for authorized St. Jude users at the main campus.
The library has a large reference book collection. Books and journal selection represent the ongoing needs and subject areas of researchers at St. Jude including pediatrics, oncology, infectious diseases, genetics, cell biology, hematology, pharmacology, virology, and neurobiology.
Book chapters and journal articles not available in our library can be obtained from other library collections or commercial vendors upon request. These photocopies are delivered electronically to the patron’s desktop. Researchers can send electronic interlibrary loan requests using the form located on the library’s internal web page.
The library’s Alert service can deliver directly to a researcher’s computer or mailbox a customized monthly listing of bibliographic information.
St. Jude scientists can browse more than 4000 different full-text journal titles from their own offices.
Trained library staff members are available to assist St. Jude researchers with customized literature searches. The library’s Web page also supports the hospital’s research by providing links to PubMed and several other databases.
The library’s collection of St. Jude reprints reflects the hospital’s research efforts. Beginning with one volume that covers several years, the reprint collection now includes multiple volumes each year. It’s an interesting way to visualize the hospital’s history.
