The Grant and Contract Management Office assists investigators in their endeavors to obtain extramural funding for research and training from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other funding sources. Staff members ensure that grant applications and progress reports meet funding agency guidelines and federal regulations. Grant and Contract Management staff members also handle all pre-award and post-award administrative activities. Financial matters are handled by the Grants Accounting Section of Financial Services.
- Assist with the grant application process, most particularly budget preparation, and provide information for most application form pages
- Ensure compliance of proposals with institutional and sponsor policies, guidelines, and regulations
- Negotiate grant awards, research agreements, contracts, and subcontracts
- Issue and monitor national and international subcontracts
- Act as liaison between St. Jude and sponsor officials
- Search for funding opportunities and notify investigators of available funding in their areas of research
- Verify appropriateness of charges
- Monitor grant spending in compliance with agency guidelines
- Counsel and assist investigators with budget revisions
Training and Education
GCMO offers several training and education opportunities, regarding research administration, through various venues such as NCURA and SRA webinar broadcasts, proposal writing workshops for Early Stage Investigators and monthly Research Administration Forums (RAF). One-on-one training is offered upon request for the TRACKS and eRA Commons (eSNAP submission) systems.
Grant and Contract Managment staff members offer assistance with and advice on obtaining funding, complying with eligibility requirements and application procedures, and other pre-award and post-award administrative matters.
