When to call?

Please call us any time you need help. A St. Jude staff member is always here to help you with a problem, question, or urgent need. We might ask for your child’s medical record number, or MRN.

If your child has a fever

  • Watch your child closely for signs of a fever. Any fever of 100.4 degrees F (38 degrees C) or higher is a medical emergency. Call the H clinic right away at 901-595-5041.
  • If your child has a fever after 5 p.m. or on a weekend, call the St. Jude operator at 901-595-3300 and ask to speak with the hematologist (“hee mah TOL uh jist”) on call. If you cannot talk to someone from St. Jude right away, go to a local doctor’s office or emergency department. Call your child’s nurse case manager and let them know you did this.

If the doctor at another hospital needs to talk to the hematology team, call the clinic at 901-595-5041. If you are calling after 5 p.m., call 901-595-3300 and ask for the hematologist on call. If you are outside the Memphis area, call toll-free 1-866-2STJUDE (1-866-278-5833).
