When your child needs medical supplies, request them from your nurse. This staff member will order the supplies from the Par Linen Operation area, sometimes called Central Supply. You can pick up the supplies at the Take Home Supplies stock room on the Patient Care Center plaza level. It is located just north of the revolving door entrance for the Outpatient Parking Garage.
Most often, the supplies you order are ready the same day, so please pick them up in a timely manner. If you do not pick up an order within 72 hours, your order may be cancelled. If the supplies you receive are not what you ordered, tell your clinic nurse right away. The nurse will work with the Central Supply staff to get what you need.
Central Supply is staffed from 7 a.m.–7 p.m. After clinic hours, a staff member in the Medicine Room can order the supplies for you. Please limit these after-hours orders to emergencies only. If Central Supply is closed and you must have the supplies before the next morning, the nursing coordinator can get those for you. Call the main hospital number 901-595-3300, and have the operator page the nursing coordinator.
Ordering a large amount of supplies
Sometimes your child may need more supplies than usual. The Take Home Supplies stock room might not have the amount you need. In this case, the supplies will have to come from a warehouse across the street, and the order will take more time to fill. For this reason, you may have to wait a few hours before your supplies are ready for pick-up. The nurse or a stock room staff member will let you know if the order is delayed in this way.
In rare cases, the staff might have to order some supplies from an outside vendor. That part of your order might take several days to fill. Your clinic nurse or the Central Supply staff will let you know if the supplies are coming from an outside vendor.
Mail home supplies
Supplies should be picked up as soon as possible from Central Supply. If you are already home and need more supplies, St. Jude will mail them to your home. Please allow 2–3 days from the time supplies are ordered for them to arrive at your home. If you do not receive exactly what you asked for, please call your clinic nurse as soon as you can. This nurse can track down the order and have it corrected.
If you have questions or problems with your supply orders, please tell your clinic nurse. The clinic nurse will work with the Central Supply staff to get what you need for your child. If you are outside the Memphis area, dial 1-866-2STJUDE (1-866-278-5833), and press 0. Then ask to speak to the nurse in your child’s clinic.
