St. Jude has always held personal meaning for the entirety of my family.
Actress, model and activist Yara Shahidi joined the Thanks and Giving campaign for the first time this year as the youngest celebrity to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude: Finding cures. Saving children.®
And for her, that mission is well known.
St. Jude has always held personal meaning for the entirety of my family, as the hospital cared for our cousin Brian and his family.
Families will never receive a bill from St. Jude for anything.

Shahidi, perhaps best known for her role as Zoey Johnson on the hit shows Black-ish and its spinoff, Grown-ish, has responded to that personal experience with generosity.
She challenged her Black-ish costar and TV mom Tracee Ellis Ross to a long-running game of Scrabble GO, an online version of the popular board game that can serve as a vehicle for fundraising. Proceeds, based on Shahidi’s final score, will go to St. Jude.

St. Jude goes above and beyond treating children from across the U.S. and around the world who are fighting cancer, sickle cell and other life-threatening diseases.
