When singer and television personality Jacqie Rivera is asked why she supports St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, her answer is simple and deeply personal. “At St. Jude, they really are changing lives.”
For Jacqie, that commitment is also part of a legacy. As the executor of the estate of her mother, the late regional Mexican music icon Jenni Rivera, she sees giving back as a responsibility she continues to honor with pride.
“Beyond her company, I’m in charge of everything she left behind, and that includes the things she cared about most,” Jacqie said. “Giving back to our community is part of that.”
Her connection to St. Jude became even more meaningful when the artist learned that her mother had been a St. Jude donor. “I didn’t know until later,” she said with a mix of pride and tenderness. “It feels so special, like something we are still doing together.”
Jacqie was first introduced to St. Jude in 2023 during a visit to the hospital’s campus in Memphis, Tennessee. The experience left a lasting impression. “I was so moved that day that I knew I wanted to be involved,” she said. “This is a place where scientists are finding new answers and finding cures for children with life-threatening diseases around the world.”
Since then, she has supported the mission in meaningful ways.
She volunteered at two St. Jude radiothons, first answering calls from Partners In Hope®, monthly donors, and later serving as a co-host, helping share patient stories and raise awareness on air. While she keeps busy producing new music in 2026, she is also looking forward to continuing to raise awareness for St. Jude.
“It’s inspiring to hear directly from families and see how donors are making a real impact,” she said. “When you support St. Jude, you are part of that change. That’s what I love most.”
What resonates most with her is how St. Jude extends support beyond the patient to the entire family.
“They don’t just treat the child. They care for everyone,” she explained. “Parents, siblings. I saw how they even dedicate time just for siblings, who are also going through so much and can sometimes feel overlooked. It’s in the details. They truly think of everything.”
Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — so they can focus on helping their child live.
The singer has been encouraging her fans and more than 3.5 million social media followers to become Partners In Hope and be part of “something bigger than themselves.” Her message is rooted in the hope that one day, no child will die of cancer and in the belief that collective action can lead to that goal.
“I think most people want to help and make a difference,” she said. “And what’s beautiful is that by supporting St. Jude, you already are. You can trust that you’re helping bring hope to families, and that real change is happening.”
