Anabella Constantino, an Argentinian‑born donor and volunteer now living in Florida, became a Partner in Hope® seeing St. Jude stories on television. Later, she deepened her commitment by participating in fundraising events. Her connection to the cause grew even stronger over the years, especially after witnessing firsthand how every child is cared for with dignity and compassion.
How long have you been part of the St. Jude mission?
St. Jude has been part of my life for 20 years. These have been two decades believing that together, we can bring hope to children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases around the world. It was back in 2005 when I decided to become a Partner in Hope, and it has filled my heart knowing that our contributions help advance scientific research and save more children’s lives. That was what truly moved me from the very beginning, and it is impressive to see how much the survival rate has increased thanks to so many discoveries made by the St. Jude team. All of this is possible because of generous donors.
Is there something you’ve lived or seen that brought you even closer to the St. Jude mission?
I had the opportunity to visit the hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, once, and it helped me understand how much support patients and their families receive. Seeing it in person reaffirmed my commitment. Knowing that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food is essential — and I feel proud to contribute to make that possible.
Although I don’t have children of my own, I do have nieces and nephews, and I always think of them whenever I see stories about St. Jude patients on TV. That’s why, after I started giving monthly, I soon felt the need to do even more. That’s when I began looking for ways to volunteer at local fundraising events as well.
What has your volunteer experience been like?
It has been incredibly rewarding. I try to support every activity held here in South Florida to benefit the hospital. I’ve participated in everything from galas to marathons and radiothons. It moves me to see how people get excited, donate and are called to give, because they know this is a mission worth supporting.
That’s why I feel immense pride every time I see the St. Jude logo — whether it’s in a commercial, on a billboard or on a T-shirt during events. I can’t help but smile and spread the word so that more people join us.
How do you explain the mission of St. Jude to someone who’s not familiar with it?
I begin by telling them that everything the hospital does is for the benefit of children facing cancer and other life-threatening diseases. I also share my pride and explain how meaningful it is to be part of a mission made possible by the generosity of donors.
And I always encourage people to become Partners In Hope® — because when we come together, we can make an incredible difference for the children and families who need us most.
