Maysam has been employed at St. Jude since the fall of 2014. She grew up in Memphis but spent five years in Boston, Massachusetts earning her Bachelor of Health Science and Master of Public Health (concentrating in Global Health, with an emphasis in Health Program Management) from Boston University. She has a range of field experience working in Latin America, the Middle East, and Sub-Saharan Africa with local institutions and governments conducting needs assessments, managing project evaluations, and volunteering in clinics. Maysam speaks Arabic and French fluently, with a basic understanding of Spanish, and brings with her an intimate knowledge of Middle Eastern culture and language.
As a clinical research associate in the department, Maysam is currently responsible for the coordination of infectious disease research and quality improvement protocols at international sites, and assists with the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of infection care, prevention and control projects, as well as the management of infectious diseases educational initiatives. She has presented abstracts at local, national, and international scientific meetings and has co-authored several publications on infectious complications in pediatric cancer populations.
