Valerie Cox has been volunteering at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital since April 2014. She originally volunteered as a Ready Runner and currently now is a Helping Hands volunteer.
Valerie relates a favorite memory from volunteering, “One night, I spent time with a patient and her sister while the parents stepped out. The sibling drew my picture (complete with my purple apron), and later I noticed that the paper was gold-colored, which was fitting because it was during September (Childhood Cancer Awareness Month). I have since framed the picture because it serves as a sweet reminder to me of all my tiny friends at St. Jude.”
For fun, Valerie enjoys reading, traveling, shopping, spending times with her friends and family, and cheering on the Indianapolis Colts.
“St. Jude is a place full of hope, healing and faith,” Valerie says. “Everyone at St. Jude is here to assist in the fight against childhood cancer, and I’m honored to play a small role in this fight.”
