Ombeni Idassi is a Program Coordinator with the Global Hematology Transversal Program for the department of Global Pediatric Medicine.
He comes to St. Jude excited to work with the team. Ombeni is a Nashville native who obtained his B.S. in Biology from North Carolina A&T State University.
Over the course of the last 12 years, Ombeni has developed his passion and love of research into dedication towards pediatric medicine and sickle. After spending three years at City of Hope Medical Center working in a translational breast cancer lab, Ombeni came to Meharry Medical College to pursue his master’s in health sciences and medical degree.
During the summer of 2020, he worked with Dr. Michael DeBaun on understanding the long-term organ complications from curative treatments, which led to his desire to work within this space. After completing his clerkship rotations, Ombeni has taken time to further learn about implementation medicine, the intricacies of global initiatives, and gaining invaluable experiences from experts in the field.
Ombeni’s ultimate goal is to have a positive, significant impact on the lives of children and families suffering from the life-changing effects of hematological diseases.
