James Sparks has been at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital since 2008, holding a wide variety of roles in clinical research. James joined Global and the North American Consortium for Histiocytosis (NACHO) Operations team in 2021.
Before coming to Global, he was the senior coordinator of Clinical Research Operations in Infectious Diseases, focusing on providing regulatory services for St. Jude Investigator-Initiated studies as well as cooperative group and industry studies. Previous roles at St. Jude include project manager and clinical research monitor for Clinical Trials Operations.
His monitoring focus spans over 10 years and includes phase I-III therapeutic studies, including IND and IDE research. James traveled to collaborating sites associated with St. Jude and NACHO to ensure quality and compliance with these studies. He especially enjoys monitoring Investigator-Initiated Clinical Trials for rare diseases such as histiocytosis and gene therapy research trials for hemophilia B and X-linked SCID.
While not born in Memphis, James grew up here and has considered it home since 1985. He earned a Bachelor of Nursing from Baptist College of Health Sciences in 2003 as well as a Master of Nursing in clinical research administration from The George Washington University in 2013. He is a certified clinical research coordinator by the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP).
