César Villegas is a senior clinical research associate in the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine within the Research Operations Core. His responsibilities include coordinating, implementing, and overseeing clinical research projects initiated by St. Jude faculty. He is a SoCRA Certified Clinical Research Professional with 15+ years of experience in the field.
An American citizen, he was born and raised in Venezuela. César’s education and training include graduating as a general surgeon from Universidad Central de Venezuela (Central University of Venezuela). In 2005 he joined The University of Tennessee Health Science Center as a post-doctoral clinical research trainee, and worked as study coordinator/co-investigator at the Department of Pediatrics-Division of Endocrinology & Metabolism, and at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology-Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
In 2012 he joined St. Jude as a clinical research associate in the Department of Epidemiology & Cancer Control providing guidance, leadership and training to CRAs within the department. He also created standard operating procedures, performed clinical data abstraction and implemented quality assurance measures to support multiple clinical research protocols while ensuring compliance with prescribed interventions and evaluations of the assigned studies.
César and his wife are the parents of two boys and a girl. His many interests include fine art, travel, history, photography, music, dancing and learning languages (he speaks four so far).
