In the past few years of his research career, Dr. Md Zahangir Alom has been conducting impactful work in the field of applied machine learning and deep learning in biomedical informatics. He leverages the insights gained to understand disease diagnosis and prognosis, and drug discovery. Alom is particularly interested in digital clinical trial design and is motivated to fill skill and knowledge gaps related to clinical investigation.
Alom earned his BS in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Rajshahi in 2008 and went on to complete his master’s training in Computer Engineering at Jeonbuk National University. Alom spent two summers as a research intern at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He completed his graduate work in 2018, earning a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2018 from the University of Dayton.
“I believe that the Master of Science in Clinical Investigation program at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a very practical degree that will give me opportunities to be familiar with the elements of clinical research, epidemiology, biostatistics, clinical trial design, patient-oriented research, clinical genomic data analytics, and more.”
