Jeroselle Bugay, MD, FPPS, FSPCCMP, FPSCCM, is a pediatric intensivist and healthcare leader in the Philippines with more than 13 years of experience advancing the care of critically ill children. Based in Quezon City, she serves as PICU Head at both East Avenue Medical Center and Veterans Memorial Medical Center, where she leads quality improvement efforts to strengthen pediatric critical care in resource-limited settings.
Bugay earned her medical degree magna cum laude from the University of Santo Tomas and ranked 4th nationally on the Philippine Physician Licensure Exam. She completed her pediatric residency at Veterans Memorial Medical Center, where she was recognized as Best Pediatric Resident for two consecutive years. She then pursued fellowship training in Pediatric Critical Care at Philippine Children’s Medical Center and recently completed a PICU observership at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, with additional rotations in palliative care and infectious diseases.
A dynamic clinician, educator, and advocate, Bugay is known as a “five-star pediatrician”—a leader, clinician, teacher, social mobilizer, and researcher. She serves on multiple research and training committees and has championed family-centered care practices through initiatives like “BlueICU Day,” celebrating ICU families and healthcare teams. Her current research interests include developing a family-centered bundle of care and implementing sustainable quality improvement interventions tailored to the Philippine PICU context.
Bugay joined the Global Child Health Master’s Program at St. Jude to gain the foundational knowledge and translational tools to better serve children in low-resource settings. She is eager to collaborate with fellow clinician-scientists and use implementation science to elevate pediatric critical care globally.
