Elisabeth Chen

A native from right here in Memphis, Elisabeth Chen joins the St. Jude Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences to pursue a master's degree in Applied Biomedical Data Sciences. She is personally interested in research involving animal behavior and psychology but is more versed in the fields of computational biology and bioinformatics.

Chen returns to Memphis after graduating from Northeastern University with a degree in computer science and biology. She also completed an internship at Stolt-Nielson for full stack software engineering, learning a number of useful skills in the software development field. She is also an avid video game player who was on the Northeastern University Varsity Esports team for League of Legends.

The practical training, mentorship, and research environment the St. Jude Graduate School provides is what drove Chen to join the ABDS program, making it necessary for her to contribute meaningfully to the field of pediatric biomedical data science. The program would also allow her to bring together her background in computer science with her passion for biological discovery, preparing her to advance into many potential career paths.
