Peter Huffman

Peter Huffman is a systems biologist and drug discovery researcher committed to transforming the pace and precision of therapeutic development for aggressive cancers. He currently serves as a Senior Associate Scientist in Systems Biology at Pfizer’s Research and Development division, where his work integrates machine learning with rational degrader design to advance targeted protein degradation strategies.

Peter earned his BA in Biochemistry from Vanderbilt University, where he laid the groundwork for his interest in translational research. Prior to joining St. Jude, his research focused on accelerating the discovery of degrader molecules using mass spectrometry and computational tools—efforts aimed at overcoming the limitations of traditional drug design and creating more effective therapies for high-risk malignancies.

Motivated by a drive to translate science into solutions, Peter joined the Biomedical Sciences PhD program at the St. Jude Graduate School to further develop his expertise in translational research within an institution known for tackling the world’s most challenging pediatric diseases. He is inspired by St. Jude’s unwavering mission and the opportunity to work alongside world-class scientists committed to pushing the boundaries of discovery.
