Stacey Hartwig

Stacey Hartwig is a lab operations manager in the Department of Infectious Diseases, currently working in the lab of Steve Varga, PhD, who also serves as Dean of the St. Jude Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

A native of Iowa City, Iowa, Hartwig has focused her research over the past two decades on respiratory viruses, particularly T cell responses to respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). More recently, Hartwig’s focus has shifted more towards the immune response to sequential heterologous respiratory infections.

By joining the St. Jude Graduate School and pursuing a master’s degree in the Clinical Investigations program, Hartwig hopes to expand her knowledge in the design and methodology of clinical research trials. With her extensive experience in basic science research, she aims to seamlessly integrate clinical and basic science research by optimizing clinical trial workflows.
