Dr. Sucharita Tuladhar is a pediatric hematologist oncologist, educator, and advocate for pediatric healthcare. She commenced her medical journey at the Universal College of Medical Sciences in Nepal. Furthering her dedication to children, she pursued an MD in Pediatrics from National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) in Nepal. Insight into the plight of children with cancer in the country made her determined to work towards the betterment of these children and families. This led her to pursue an IAP fellowship in pediatric hematology oncology from Tata Medical Center in India.
After returning to her homeland, she embarked on the mission of establishing pediatric hematology oncology services at Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS), a public, non-profit, tertiary academic institution committed to enhancing the healthcare of underserved and marginalized communities in Nepal. Driven by her unwavering determination to improve the status of childhood cancer in low-income settings, Tuladhar is actively involved in initiatives aimed at early detection, raising awareness, and providing standard treatment for pediatric oncology patients. She is passionate about enhancing supportive care and resources for families affected by childhood cancer, ensuring they receive the holistic care they deserve. She holds a strong conviction that one of the most pivotal tools for enhancing the outcomes of children with malignancies lies in early diagnosis, effective referral, and timely treatment.
Tuladhar is the leading member of the team developing unified protocol for Wilms tumor in Nepal. In a short period of time since initiation of pediatric oncology services, she has played a pivotal role in establishing PAHS as a referral center for children with malignancies from across the country.
“I am pursuing a Master’s of Science in Global Child Health to equip myself with the skills necessary to advocate for children with cancer at national and international levels to address their needs beyond clinical treatment. With a steadfast determination I am already working towards this goal, and I believe this program will further empower me to make a lasting impact.”
