Topotecan helps cure and preserve vision in patients with advanced retinoblastoma

An October 2016 St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital study shows that the drug topotecan should be part of up-front chemotherapy for patients with advanced retinoblastoma that had not spread beyond their eyes. Retinoblastoma is a tumor that begins in the retina of the eye and usually occurs in young children.
