In its 27th year, the St. Jude Promesa y Esperanza® (Promise and Hope) broadcast for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on Dec. 7 and 8 brought together media, musical artists and cancer advocates to keep the lifesaving mission of St. Jude top of mind during the critical season of giving. Uforia stations from across the country, bolstered by celebrities and influencers on social media, worked together to encourage listeners to become Ángeles de Esperanza (Angels of Hope) and register to become a monthly donor.

To raise awareness and support in the form of these monthly pledges, Uforia’s on-air personalities promoted t-shirts emblazoned with ‘This Shirt Saves Lives’ worn by Hispanic celebrities and artists like Banda El Recodo, Fey, Intocable, DannyLux, Juan de Montreal, Menudo, El Micha, Helen Ochoa, GALE, Regulo Caro, Los Huracanes del Norte, Bobby Pulido, La Dama Brava and shared on their social media platforms in an effort to engage more supporters. The national broadcast event aired across the country, reaching viewers and listeners in cities like Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Puerto Rico and more. Uforia stations across the country, activating both syndicated and local personalities and shows, engaged their communities, drove the message, and ultimately delivered for the kids of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“The impact of our partners during the St. Jude Promesa y Experanza broadcast event is amazing and inspiring. It showcases this community’s support and how they come together to fight pediatric cancers and other catastrophic diseases,” said Richard C. Shadyac Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “We are so grateful to each media partner and artist who help give peace of mind to St. Jude patients and families.”

Thanks to Promesa y Esperanza and events like it, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food, so they can focus on helping their child live. Partners like TelevisaUnivision ensure that the Spanish-speaking community in the United States and Puerto Rico are aware of how a small monthly donation can help save more lives.

“Every day, we reach millions of people thanks to our capabilities as the largest Spanish-language audio network in the country. We are honored to harness that reach to ensure that St. Jude’s mission is supported and embraced by our audience in a meaningful way,” said Jesus Lara, President of Local Media TelevisaUnivision, Inc. "We are grateful for the involvement of our talent and artists, but know that the true heroes are our audience members who call in and become Ángeles de Esperanza.”

To become an Ángel de Esperanza by donating $19 a month, or for more information, visit www.estacamiseta.org or call (800) 998-8432.
