St. Jude patient Townes, age 2, brain cancer, with his parents

Score one for the kids

When you host a game day party with your friends, you can help St. Jude kids, like Townes.

At just 2-years-old, Townes already has a big, flirty personality. He loves playing with trucks, and his best friend is the family dog.

In March 2015, Townes’ parents, Lindsey and Todd, were devastated when they learned he suffered from a rare brain tumor called medulloblastoma. Townes underwent surgery at a local hospital, during which the entire tumor was removed. Lindsey and Todd then turned to St. Jude for his care.

At St. Jude, Townes underwent six rounds of intravenous chemotherapy. He then started six months of oral chemotherapy, but halfway through, scans revealed the tumor had returned. Townes underwent surgery to remove the tumor and his continuing treatment will include 30 rounds of radiation therapy and six more months of intravenous chemotherapy.

You never think cancer will happen to your family, but if it does, you want your child to have the best. And St. Jude is the best.

Lindsey, Townes' mom

Lindsey and Todd are grateful for Townes’ doctors and nurses. They’re also grateful for the people who help support the hospital through fundraising programs, like St. Jude Game Day. Give Back. “We love to watch football games together,” Lindsey said. “During the Super Bowl, we’ll get together with friends and family and have a crawfish boil.” Todd’s favorite pro football team is the New Orleans Saints, and he’s teaching Townes to throw and catch a football.

St. Jude means more to us now than before,” said Lindsey. “It’s a huge part of our life. You never think cancer will happen to your family, but if it does, you want your child to have the best. And St. Jude is the best.”

Help give hope to kids, like Townes, who are fighting life-threatening illnesses.
