A Setting Designed for Connection

Welcome to a Thriving Community

Students at Graduate School Convocation

At St. Jude, you join a thriving community of trainees, scholars and scientists. Together, you will join graduate and undergraduate students, postdoctoral fellows, medical students, residents and clinical fellows alongside the researchers and clinicians on our faculty.

Connect with friends and colleagues on our beautifully landscaped campus. Grab a meal or a snack at:

  • Kay Kafe cafeteria
  • Starbucks
  • St. Jude Farmers Market (seasonal)

Work it out at the Living Well fitness center. Meet and relax in the dedicated student lounge, complete with a kitchenette, pool table and TV.

We also organize frequent social gatherings and professional development activities for St. Jude scientific trainees. Network, exchange ideas or team up to volunteer with our patients, families and the broader Memphis community.

A City Designed for Living

Memphis. It’s a city rich in history and alive with music, arts, food and sports. And, it’s ultra-livable. Our excellent quality of life meets one of the lowest costs of living in the country.

With a metro population of more than one million, the city has world-class museums, parks and music festivals—all with a friendly, small-town vibe.

Go to free summer concerts at the Levitt Shell amphitheater, where Elvis played his first paid gig. Eat at the world-famous Rendezvous restaurant. Find the hidden permanent collection of Monet, Renoir, Cezanne, Gauguin and Van Gogh at the Dixon Gallery and Gardens. Cheer on the Grizzlies at FedEx Forum or jam to the delta blues on Beale Street.

Neighborhoods Near and Almost Near

Affordable housing is easy to find close to the St. Jude campus and in neighborhoods throughout Memphis. From quiet, family oriented communities to trendy areas bustling with restaurants and nightlife, the city gives the newcomer many options to choose from. And, the city is compact enough that you can drive across town in 30 minutes or less.

Easy Climate & Location

Memphis has a temperate, four-season climate and offers year-round outdoor recreation. Scenic trails and waterways beckon, and for athletes who enjoy structure, races and sports clubs abound. The Mississippi and Wolf Rivers wind through town; and neighborhoods are lush with flowers, cherry trees and ancient oaks and maples from spring to autumn.

Those inclined to travel will find that the Ozark Mountains, Great Smoky Mountains, Gulf of Mexico, St. Louis, Atlanta and New Orleans are within an easy day’s drive, and the Memphis International Airport offers regular flights to destinations around the world.
