Goals for St. Jude juggling contest rules

 

The Goals for St. Jude Juggling Contest is a volunteer-based fundraising contest conducted by American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities, Inc. (“ALSAC”) to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (“St. Jude”). These Rules apply to all participants. The Sponsors shall make all determinations as to whether the Rules have been complied with, and the decision of the Sponsors as to any issue is final.

Sponsors
ALSAC and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are Sponsors of this Contest.

Eligibility
No purchase is necessary to participate in the Contest and participants must be 18 years of age or have the permission of your parent or legal guardian (“Parent”) and be between the ages of 13 and 17. The Contest is open to residents of the 50 United States and United States Territories. Employees of ALSAC, St. Jude, New York Red Bulls and their immediate family are not eligible to win.

“Immediate Family” is defined as the spouse, parents, siblings, in-laws, children, and grandchildren (including step-children and step-grandchildren, and adopted children and grandchildren), of the employee and his/her spouse; individuals for whom an employee is the legal guardian; and individuals who are not legally related to, but who reside with, an employee.

Entry
If you are between the ages of 13 and 17, you must get your Parent’s permission prior to entering. You will be entered to win by registering for a Goals for St. Jude Juggling Contest session to raise funds for St. Jude. at www.stjude.org/goals and obtaining donations from donors through your personal fundraising page at www.stjude.org/goals as well as check or money order donations sent via mail along with a “Check Submission Form” to ATTN: Goals for St. Jude., 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Participants may also take pledges from friends and family members for how many times participants can “juggle” a soccer ball without it touching the ground.

Time
Participants will be counted only if they register to raise funds between 12:01 am Central Time on January 1, 2015 and 11:59 pm Central Time on December 31, 2015. There will be three separate sessions: Jan. 1- Apr. 30; May 1 – Aug. 31; and Sep. 1 – Dec. 31, and participants will be placed in a session based on when they register. All funds must be received by Sponsors no later than 5:00 pm Central Time on January 15, 2016. The winner will be determined and notified no later than 6:00 pm Central Time on February 1, 2016.

Prize
The top 25 fundraisers from each session will receive an autographed soccer ball signed by MLS soccer star Tim Cahill. The top overall fundraiser will receive an opportunity to spend a day with Tim Cahill where Tim Cahill will come to the Winner’s location and includes one-on-one soccer instruction. The estimated fair market value of the prize is $1,000. However, the actual value may be more or less than this amount.

Determination of winner
There will be one winner (“the Winner”) of the contest. The Winner will be the participant who raises the most funds in accordance with the giving procedure outlined above. The Winner will be notified by telephone or e-mail, and subsequently announced to the public. The selection of the Winner by ALSAC/St. Jude is final and binding on all participants. Nature of the Prize: The nature and all details of the day with Tim Cahill, including the date will be determined by Tim Cahill with input from the Winner. If Tim Cahill is forced to cancel, he and the Winner will be responsible to reschedule at a mutually convenient time. Should the Winner choose to not accept the prize, or be unable to schedule a time mutually agreeable to the Winner and Tim Cahill, there is no cash option and the prize will be forfeited. The prize is not transferable.

Taxes
The value of the prize is includible in the Winner’s income. ALSAC is required to report the actual value of the prize to the Internal Revenue Service. The Winner agrees to provide his or her valid name, address, and Social Security number to ALSAC for tax reporting purposes. The Winner is responsible for paying all federal, state, and local income and other applicable taxes that are due in connection with receipt of the prize.

Consent to Publicity
By entering the Contest, the Winner consents to ALSAC/St. Jude use of his or her name and/or photograph in any publicity, publications, promotional and marketing material, advertising, and any other print materials, web pages, electronic or other communications published or distributed by ALSAC/St. Jude, and to sign a separate agreement to this effect.

Miscellaneous Conditions
In the event that the operation or administration of the Contest is impaired or prevented in any way for any reason, including, but not limited to fraud, change of condition, or other technical problems, the Sponsors may in their sole discretion, either: (a) terminate the Contest; (b) suspend the Contest to address the impairment and then resume the Contest in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Rules; and/or (c) substitute other prizes for any prize set forth in these Rules that becomes unavailable for any reason. The Sponsors reserve the right in their sole discretion to disqualify any individual found to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or acting in violation of these Rules.

The determinations of ALSAC/St. Jude are final and binding with respect to any matter arising out of the interpretation or application of these terms and conditions.

For a confirmation of the winner, send a hand-written, self-addressed, stamped envelope to Goals for St. Jude, ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Requests for a confirmation of the winner must be received by February 1, 2016.
