Why Facebook fundraisers work

With nearly 3 billion active monthly users, Facebook (also known as Meta Platforms Inc. or "Meta") is a great place to raise money and make an impact for causes like St. Jude.

Creating a Facebook fundraiser is an easy way to raise money for nonprofits because the setup is simple and cost-effective. In addition to its accessibility, this platform's larger user base means your campaign has the potential to reach a wider audience. Users can easily share their fundraiser with their network of followers, who can then donate and share with their network and so on.

There is also an added layer of trust and visibility with Facebook fundraising as donors can see the person who is organizing the campaign and view updates in real time.

How to start a fundraiser on Facebook

Starting a Facebook fundraiser has never been easier. You can start a fundraiser at any time and for any reason. For example, you might consider starting a birthday fundraiser or a campaign to honor someone special. All campaigns help continue our lifesaving mission: Finding cures. Saving children.®

Follow these 4 steps to start a Facebook fundraiser:

1. Log into Facebook

To create a fundraiser on Facebook, visit facebook.com/fund/stjude or, if already logged into Facebook, locate Fundraisers through the Menu or by clicking on this link.

Select Raise money for a nonprofit and select non profit screenshot

2. Search for a nonprofit

Click 'Select nonprofit' and search for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Let's start with the basics. Fill in fundraiser details.

3. Make it your own

First, add a title for your fundraiser.

Next, fill in basic information about your fundraiser. This is where you let friends and family know why you're raising funds for St. Jude. For inspiration, consider reviewing our Facebook fundraising messaging ideas.

Then, you can add a cover photo. Be sure to preview the details of your fundraiser and make sure all information is correct before publishing. That said, you can edit later, as needed.

Share your fundraiser

4. Share your fundraiser

This is where you and your network come together to meet your fundraising goals. After your campaign has been established, be sure to:

  • Invite Facebook friends
  • Share on your newsfeed and in group Facebook pages
  • Share a link to your fundraiser page on other social media channels

Why support St. Jude?

Families never receive a bill for anything at St. Jude

Families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food — so they can focus on helping their child live.

St. Jude has treated patients from all 50 states and worldwide

Every child deserves a chance to live their best life and celebrate every moment. When you support St. Jude, you help give kids with cancer around the world that chance. Together, we can save more lives.

St. Jude has pushed the survival rate from 20% to 80%

When St. Jude opened in 1962, childhood cancer was considered incurable. Since then, St. Jude has helped push the overall survival rate from 20% to more than 80% and we won't stop until no child dies from cancer.

Help St. Jude in the fight to end childhood cancer because every child deserves to live their best life.
