for Keeton

Five-year-old Keeton is an energetic boy who is a constant blur of motion. Interested in getting his attention? Talk to him about Cars. He’s going to race like Lightning McQueen when he grows up.

But unlike most boys his age, Keeton finds himself at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where he's undergoing two-and-a-half years of chemotherapy for a type of blood cancer called acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

When Keeton was first found to suffer from leukemia, his mother, Ginna, didn’t know what to expect. “It’s an experience I never want anybody to go through,” she said. “But when we got to St. Jude, I was amazed. This place is beautiful.”

Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90%, and we won’t stop until no child dies from cancer.

And being the energetic boy that he is, Keeton hasn’t let treatment slow him down. Showcasing his expressive personality, he has no trouble making friends around the hospital.

“Keeton, he loves everybody. He’s gotten to where he hugs everybody at St. Jude,” said Ginna. “He loves everybody and I love them, too. I’m grateful for everybody at St. Jude.”

St. Jude means everything to me. They’re saving my baby’s life. We’re taken care of here. I can focus on Keeton.

Families like Keeton’s never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
