The ninth annual Kids for Kids Family Fun Day drew more than 1,200 guests to celebrate a year’s worth of fundraising for the kids of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The event, hosted by the Kids for Kids Foundation on June 17 at Aviator Sports and Events Center in Brooklyn, New York, raised over $1.3 million.
The day included a carnival, live music performances and a barbecue lunch.
Since its founding in 2008 by a group of 10 friends, the Kids for Kids Foundation has raised about $8 million for St. Jude.
As a foundation that heavily includes the involvement of children, the junior committee, composed of kids from age 5 to 18 years, plays an essential role in foundation activities and this year raised $65,000.
“We wanted to do events that brought people together to spread awareness and to raise money to help these families and children,” said Robert Catalano, one of the founders of the foundation.
As the result of the support of foundations like Kids for Kids, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
